Mighty Deeds
The Mighty Deeds of God! They were spoken by Jesus’ apostles on the Day of Pentecost, 50 days after Jesus was raised from the dead.
On that day God enabled many people to hear “the mighty deeds of God” (Acts 2:11) in the language they understood the best.
Why? God wanted them to *rightly understand, *be sorry for their sins, *trust in Jesus for eternal life, and *be saved from their sins!
Some of the Mighty Deeds of God:
- God’s Creation – Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
- God’s Existence – Romans 1:20 “…since the creation of the world [God’s] invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” // Why? As we look at our awesome world in which we live, it’s obvious there is an Awesome God!
- God Knows Everything – 1 Chronicles 28:9 [David said to his son:] “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and u>understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”<
- God’s Desire for All to Be Saved – 1 Timothy 2:3-4 “…God our Savior… desires all men [people] to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
- God Is Freely Offering Us the Righteousness We Need Through Jesus – 2 Corinthians 5:21 “[God the Father] made [God the Son] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in [Jesus].”Through Jesus in Jesus, God gifts us with the righteousness we need to be welcomed into heaven!
- God’s Call for Everyone to Repent and Believe – Acts 17:30-31 “…having overlooked the times of ignorance [when many did not know God’s truth], God is now declaring to [people] that all everywhere should repent [turn from their sins and from trust in themselves to Jesus], because [God] has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed[Jesus, the Son of God], having furnished proof to [everyone] by raising Him from the dead.” // Since judgment day is coming, God is calling for everyone to repent and believe today!
